Paris Photo 2025
The second year back in the famous Grand Palais was a great success.
The venue itself certainly contributes to the experience – large, easy to get to, with lots of natural light.
As usual there was an excellent selection of photography on offer – from a large range of gallery’s, publishers and other international exhibitors.
The quality of work was outstanding although as a visitor, the sheer scale requires some careful selection.
Essentially a marketing/sales event Paris photo attracts buyers/sellers, galleries, publishers, artist’s, networkers and the interested public from all over the world – all with a shared passion for quality photography.
The numbers attending this year’s 4 day offer were as high as ever (around 75,000) with over 200 exhibitors, confirming a sustained and global interest in this most democratic of mediums.
The event hosted a number of book signings, talks and discussions around photographic practise and associated issues which were well attended with many opportunities to engage. The vibe was relaxed and friendly, perhaps helped by the 4 day duration and possibly the Parisian location.
Publishers were particularly well represented in what appears to be a growing area of interest and included many excellent self-published books. However, the main focus, for me at Paris Photo is the rare opportunity to see prints by a range of celebrated artists in one place – dating from the origins of photographic practise to the present day.
There was plenty of new work on show representing the diversity and global nature of an evolving medium that continues to grow and challenge audiences with women photographers well represented. New photography work by Artists such as Marine Lanier and Camila Falquez was of particular interest although I would suggest approaching the fair as a celebration of all things photography that will educate, stimulate and inform.
There is something for everyone and Paris Photo should be a must visit event or at least something to put on to your photo bucket list. Roll on next year!
