Unite the kingdom May 16, 2026
On May 16, 2026, the Unite the Kingdom march moved through central London, drawing tens of thousands of supporters onto the streets of the capital.
The city became a sea of red, white, and blue flags rippling above dense crowds, chants echoing through the streets, and moments of celebration and emotion unfolding between the movement of people.
I documented the event primarily in monochrome using a Fujifilm X100VI with Fujifilm’s built-in ND filter and slower shutter techniques to capture the energy, motion, and atmosphere of the march. Alongside this, I used a Fujifilm X-T5 at standard shutter speeds to create sharp, detailed colour images that emphasised the scale of the flags, crowds, and visual spectacle of the day.
The march brought together people of many ages, backgrounds, and regions, each expressing their opinions, identity, and sense of patriotism in their own way. Through this documentary series, I aimed to capture not only the scale of the event, but also the human moments within it the expressions, gestures, and interactions that defined the atmosphere on the streets of London.
